Happy July 4th

July 6, 2012

Hello Everyone.  I hope you had a wonderful Fourth of July.
I never thought I would hear it, but my kids didn't want to go outside on the fourth because it was so hot.  They even chose watching a movie inside versus going to the swimming pool.  While we did manage a few runs through the sprinklers, playing on the trampoline, and watering the garden, it wasn't until the early evening that we really ventured outside to take advantage of the parades, festivals, and fireworks.  Unfortunately, that meant a late night and two cranky, sleepy kids on Thursday morning. I think I may start up a petition to mandate a holiday on July 5th to allow people to recover from a late night of fireworks, especially those with young kids!

TODAY IS THE DAY...  The newly renovated Washington Park is opening today, July 6th, in Over The Rhine, adjacent to Music Hall.  While ribbon cutting is this morning, there will be a free concert by the World Choir Games this evening.  The park features children's play areas, dog play areas, and water/splash garden area that can be controlled with downloadable apps to your mobile devices!  Sounds awesome.

The World Choir Games have officially started.  Opening ceremonies were a big success and the city is buzzing with excitement (and music!).  Included in this edition is a listing of all of the FREE EVENTS around the city for the duration of the games.  There are plenty of other events that you can purchase tickets to as well.

Sunday's movie on Fountain Square is "Where The Wild Things Are".  If you haven't gotten downtown for one of these free concerts, why not head out this week?  It's a lot of fun for kids and parents alike.

Finally, I'm sending out a big congratulations to Tanya, who won the Big Time Rush tickets with her comment on last week's newsletter.  For those still interested, there are still tickets available to Big Time Rush, playing this Sunday, July 8th at Riverbend.  Here are the details:
